Racial religious and racial diversity meant that colliding cultures had different ideas of how to treat women.
WHO WE ARE
Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site serves as a museum of history, art, and architecture, and a host to community organizations, educational programs, and special events.
Philipse Manor Hall is one of the oldest historic sites in the United States. The manor house was built in the 1600’s by Frederick Philipse I, a Dutchman who amassed a fortune and eventually became lord of a 52,500-acre estate.
From guided tours to family movie nights, colonial game days, art exhibits, and more, our programs are designed to highlight the history of PMH, engage the community, inform, and entertain.
Philipse Manor Hall is a hub of activity in downtown Yonkers, just as it was more than 300 years ago when the Philipse family called it home. With your help, we can strengthen and preserve the Manor Hall for generations yet to come.
